Who are we and what do we do?

Here at Historical Huzzahs our aim is to create fun, interactive and accessible education theatre for modern day audiences.

Hampshire based Historical Huzzahs was founded in 2019 by University of Winchester Graduate Martin Jakeman. After winning 'Best Show' at Winchester Hat Fair's 'Top Hat Competition" he joined a mentoring scheme run by the Theatre Royal Winchester. Martin is currently working as a Costumed Interpreter at the National Museum of the Royal Navy on board HMS Warrior (1860). He is also a guest lecturer at the University of Winchester teaching Costumed Interpretation to second year students. In his work with Historical Huzzahs, the National Museum of the Royal Navy and the University of Winchester he believes it is vital to produce work that incorporates history, fun, and accessible learning. .

We understand that History is not just a subject, it's a passion and our aim is to help inspire a life long love of the subject. Using this aim our trained professional actors are extremely skilled at bringing history to life through hosting meet and greets, workshops, or site roaming interactions.
